FLYLADY - Office

I'm not focusing much on the actual cleaning of the Office this week. Bob is home so not a lot of time spent in here. Also, the retired list for Stampin' Up! was released on the 9th so when I do get time in here not 'work' related, I've been trying to integrate retired items into the general populace of stamps/ supplies and making room for the items I'm pre-ordering in preparation for the new catalog launch in June.

I also have an 11-day trip planned just prior to the release so I need things in order so I'll be ready to jump in with both feet as soon as the catalog launches. That means A LOT of prep work before my trip.

GOAL:
Keep the work surface cleared after each project

If I can accomplish that, then I can Enjoy the Journey!

What's your Zone this week? Any area you particularly would like to have in order before the outdoor activities call you away?

Enjoy the Journey

WEIGH-IN 9-4-17

185/169/135

First off, I apologize for no post last week. Sunday, when I usually weigh in and post to the blog, we were a bit busy spending the final few hours with the girls. Monday we drove to OK then Tuesday morning, up to Wichita to meet up with our daughter and hand over the girls. Was a bittersweet weekend. We miss the girls like crazy but I must get back to work.

Thankfully, I am not a stress eater. I tend to go the other direction. Rather than eating constantly, I focus on the multiple tasks at hand and forget to eat. I'm going to focus on that over the next few weeks by setting a timer. Rule of thumb to feed the metabolism and keep the fire burning is to eat something every three hours. Doesn't have to be anything big. A piece of fruit or a spoon of peanut butter will do that trick.

Bob leaves tomorrow and plans to stay on the boat as long as they'll allow. We know things will slow down this winter so we want to build up our reserve for the leaner months ahead.

The pantry will be fine. I've been canning pints of pasta sauce with the tomatoes from our garden on a weekly basis. I'm averaging four pints a week. While Bob is gone, my first task is to clear the freezer of leftovers - my meals until they are gone - then restock with lean proteins and quick casseroles.

Quick casseroles are important as I look ahead to November. For the past eleven years, I have taken part in National Novel Writing Month. Nano as we affectionately term the event is a month-long dedication to spewing the first draft of a new novel/ project. I'm hoping to have the mindset to write book 3 of my Seasonal Sisters series or book 3 of the Branson series. I'm spending this month revamping my very first novel - the book of my heart - to submit to Hallmark Movie channel. They've been my target for the past few years and they are finally accepting manuscripts.

So, my September:
Put house back in order (I'll talk more about this later in the week)
Get my job as Marketing Director for Oghma Creative Media and Saddlebag Dispatches mag
on track before my boss boots me
Polish A Christmas to Remember and submit to Hallmark
Start fall yard work and begin storing straw for next spring's garden.
Finish Office organization project (I have company coming in 6 weeks!)

See... no stress ::: gulp:::

Thankfully, most everything will fall into place once Bob leaves. It isn't about him being home so much as I just work better alone.  So, with the girls and Bob gone I can shift into my own schedule and move forward with much more productivity.

For this week:
Getting back into routine with:
       Eating Schedule
       Working Out
       Cleaning Schedule

How does your week look?  Whatever your plans, the most important thing to remember is to

Enjoy the Journey!

PLANNING FOR THE WEEKEND

19 mile mark

This is a sample of what I might have passed had I been literally walking the trail. I have hiked 21 miles thus far. This sight is very similar to my backyard. The walk is uneven and would be slow going. the advantage to the virtual walk is no danger of ticks (which are really thick this year) or snakes, such as copperheads, blending in with the debris of the forest floor.

I did not walk as much this week as I'd planned. I spent the storm-free days trying to get as much done on the computer as possible. Dry days, my sinus' gave me hardship as the storm front moved in. Then there were the storms themselves.

I hope to be more focused about being on the treadmill this week.

Unlike most of you, I will not be tempted by the backyard BBQ and all the food associated with the 4th of July weekend. Bob is on the boat and I will spend the 4th inside watching the fireworks from New York. There may be BBQ wings or a pulled pork salad in there somewhere.

However you celebrate this weekend, remember that YOU are in CONTROL. Enjoy the foods and beverages you enjoy in moderation. Enjoy your family, friends and the taste of the food. Listen to your body and stop when tummy tells you enough. And if you do over-indulge, DO NOT beat yourself over the pleasure. Accept the move for what it was and start fresh on Tuesday.  But most important of all....

Enjoy the Journey!

PLANNING FOR THE WEEKEND 188

This has been a good first week for Bob being gone. I've stayed pretty close to program and tried new recipes... which you'll see over the coming weeks. They are already scheduled ;-)

One guilt-free treat this week was a piece of sour cream raisin pie. Probably my favorite pie and the gal who does all the baking for the local restaurant (we call her grandma) always calls me when she has one made up. The good thing is I can go into the cafe and have ONE piece without having a whole pie here to tempt me. Unless my sister comes for a visit, I'm the only one that will eat Sour Cream Raisin so I don't make them.

I am down 3 pounds from Bob and I's weigh in just over a week ago. We're half way through his hitch so if I can lose 3 more pounds I will have made my personal goal. Now that the rain has stopped for a few days I'm hoping to get out early in the mornings or late in the evenings and walk.

Enjoy the journey!

PLANNING FOR THE WEEKEND - September 29 - Oct. 3

I'm still on the hunt for apples. I would love to find a 1/2 bushel. That would give me plenty to make apple butter, apple sauce and apple pie filling.

In my honest opinion, nothing you buy in the store compares to homemade. And making apple butter or apple sauce is not difficult. With a slow cooker, the task is not even really time consuming. Put the mushed apples in to cook down and go do something else. Though I prefer low and slow in the big roasting pan in the oven.  I like to use apple sauce in place of oil in a lot of my baking and is good on top of low carb pancakes - which are almost like a crepe in consistency.

Bob and I like apple crisp as oppose to apple pies. Not big on the crust. Though Bob would prefer I did not put oatmeal in the crisp. I made THIS peach crisp and turned out great so thought I'd try the same with apple pie filling instead.

Okay.. off track.. Planning for the weekend.
I need to go to Springfield (2 hrs away) for a writers meeting tomorow. I think I'm leaving early enough to go by the Farmer's Market. I'll stay in town overnight which means eating out. I have coupons for my birthday from various restaurants. My favorite is going to be Applebees. I like their 2 for $20 menu... especially since they've added the Wonton Taco as an appetizer option. I can pick 2 light entrees. Eat one for supper and bring the other one home to put in the freezer to eat during Nano. I also get a free shooter dessert. Oh yeah, and Sat. night supper will be crab legs at the chinese buffet. Lots of protein in the crab legs and the mussels in black bean sauce.

I hope your weekend goes as planned..
Enjoy the Journey!

PLANNING FOR THE WEEKEND - Road Trip!

I think if I pay closer attention to this post on Fridays, my weekends might be less of a wash. Though I have decided I'm allowing myself one day a week to enjoy food. I don't over-eat but sometimes it's nice to enjoy the foods you love without thinking about how many calories something contains. This is where 'comfort foods' come in.

This morning I'm headed for Linden Texas. About five and a half hours as the crow flies. I'll be traveling through areas I've not passed through before so I don't really know what my food options are. One thing I do know - my nose has radar when it comes to locating a Chinese buffet. If I'm lucky I'll find one of those for lunch and have a nice Mongolian stir-fry. If not, I have coupons for Ruby Tuesday and they have a new chicken tender salad that looks yummy.

As I said in my Tuesday post, I'll be packing things like my morning glory muffins and plenty of bottled water. I'm sure there is a grocery store somewhere nearby that I can purchase Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine meals for the microwave. Friday night I'd like to scope out the area and see what is available for local food options.

Saturday is all about prepping for the Texas Music Awards, which I'll be covering via Twitter. I'll also be conducting interviews with some of the artists and lots of networking with industry professionals. What that leaves me for food time, I'm not sure. Since I don't know what Linden has to offer, I will just have to wait and see.

Sunday I'll be back on the road headed home. I hope to do some shopping somewhere and eat what will probably be my first decent meal of the weekend then arriving home late.

If I can wake up at a decent hour on Monday, I'll let you know how things go.
Enjoy the Journey!
