FRIDAY RECAP - Really!

Okay.. so this week was crazy. I really thought I'd get a Recipe Wednesday post up before Bob and I left for a couple days of R & R. When he's home, I am not on my own time schedule. I'm scrambling now to get things done before we go to dinner... and pretty sure I'm not going to get the things done I wanted to before we leave.

We got home Wednesday afternoon and I was just done for. It's bad enough that once I've been out and about, I'm pretty much done for on the return home. The heat indexes are NOT helping. I just want to go sit in Alley Spring and not move til fall.

Yesterday, I took too much heat working in the garden - later than I would have liked yesterday morning but since Bob was working on a task for me, I couldn't leave him out there alone even though 'early' is not his thing.

I've never been able to handle heat. Even as a little girl, too much sun would give me nose bleeds. That's why I became a 50's housewife. My mom taught me everything about keeping house. I got to stay in to do household tasks while my younger sister had to do time in the garden.  Sadly, I enjoy both sides. I just know I have to be out there early in the morning or wait until the sun has gone down before I do much outdoors.

All of my progress photos are on my phone so I'll have those for you next week. Not enough hours today to pull them off, resize and upload here.

I've been getting steps in, just not remembering to mark them down at the end of the day. But I think I've hit upon a system that will help me remember.

I'll see you Monday! Have a great weekend, Happy Father's Day to the men in your life and...

Enjoy the Journey!

WEEKLY RECAP - Week of September 19

Today is the first full day of autumn 2016. And our high temp should reach into the low 90s. Hmmm

Yesterday, I was out of sorts. Not sure what was wrong except maybe my sugar was out of wack due to not enough protein. Since we bought a whole hog earlier this year I have an abundance of pork, as in that is almost all that is in the meat freezer. Except for my yearly purchase of lobster tails and the sweet potatoes I froze last year. I'm tired of pork. I also need to clean out the upstairs freezer before I can purchase bulk beef. Something I need to do in the next week or so.

Otherwise, this has been a good week. I did get almost 9,000 steps in on Wednesday while going back and forth from the dining room table to the printer in my office putting my blog planner together. And I did a serious house cleaning on Tuesday.

As the temps start to cool down (and the weatherman says those temperatures are coming) I will be doing more work outside, burning calories as I pull weeds, mulch new beds for next spring and give the garden shed a major clean-out. I know for a fact I have a nice-sized lizard, a Black snake and a Garter snake.

So that's been my week. How was yours?
Whatever your plans are for the weekend, Enjoy the Journey!

Weekly Recap

While this bowl of oatmeal looks quite tasty, my food options for the next few days will have a lot less texture.

I'm scheduling this to post as I'm pretty sure I'm not up to doing much of anything this morning except take more pain meds and crawl back into bed. I'm typing this on Monday, Aug. 1 because yesterday (Thursday) I had all of my teeth pulled and my temporary dentures put in. For the first time in my life I have straight teeth and a smile I want to share. Unfortunately, my food choices for the next several days are very limited. The first four days will be anything that does not require chewing - broth, jello, pudding, etc. I've discovered cup o noodle soup from Campbell for the Kuerig. The broth packet now comes in the form of a K-cup and the noodle packet (very small noodles) are in a cellophane packet. I know I'm going to be sore for several days. After about day four or five, I need to start chewing stuff that doesn't require a lot but does start the callousing process of the gums. Oh joy.

With this in mind, I look forward to stepping on the scale for the next couple of weeks.
So my weekend is Ibuprophen, pain pills and food items I do not have to chew. But I know the few days of discomfort (okay, probably pain) will be so worth it in the end.

Enjoy the Journey!

PLANNING FOR THE WEEKEND

I finally have the blog board set up and beginning regular postings again. This has just been a crazy year already.

First on my list is to let you know that doing without my fluffy coffee during the week made absolutely no difference. Not an ounce.  So I am back to one cup each morning during the week and two per day on the weekend.

While on a pre-Valentine trip to Springfield a couple of weeks ago, Bob and I found a bread bowl pan at Marshall's. The pan makes 4 bread bowls.

The only thing I've tried so far is Chicken Pot Pie in a biscuit bowl. However, it took 4 biscuits to make the bowl... that's 400 Calories!!!  So yeah, won't be doing that again LOL  I made the pot pie filling from scratch using:

2 cups of frozen mixed vegies
6 low carb yellow potatoes (there is 100 calories in 4 potatoes)
4 Baby bella mushrooms
milk/ flour thickening

I did not eat all of my bread bowl but the filling was good. I ate a bowl of just filling for lunch the next day.

We want to try other things with this bowl pan. Bob has his eye on a brownie bowl with vanilla ice cream. But, I'm thinking these are a treat - only thing.

So... plans for the weekend.
Bob is home so I am cooking for 2 every day. I'm thinking he needs a pot roast on Sunday. Saturday will be chicken something or other and Friday will be fish. We are not Catholic and don't observe Lent but that's just how the 'menu' fell this week.

I'm hoping by next week to have a regular meal plan. The freelance writing as well as novel writing is kicking in to high gear so if I can have a menu plan, things will flow much smoother.

I've also been having some knee issues so no exercising yet. However, I did lose 2 pounds total on Bob and I's last challenge - winning the Rebate Certificate to Menards, which will buy the new stereo system for the studio. yay!!!!

Tell me about your journey. Let's take this hike together.

Blessings on your journey!
Kelly

Weekly ReCap - and a correction

Okay.. I've not done as well as I'd thought. I'm glad hubby wrote down our beginning weights. I did not weigh 189... but 188 - which means I've only lost a pound.

I also discovered that when I don't take my vitamins (like my Chromium) that I seem to want to eat more and thus not lose the weight. So I'm trying to be more diligent about taking my vitamins. Odd how something so simple can make such a big difference over all.

Sorry I missed the recipe for this week. I made a couple things and took pictures just so swamped with work that I did not get them written up and scheduled. Will take care of that this weekend so they'll run on schedule.

Have a great weekend and Enjoy the Journey!
