WEIGH IN

185/   /135

Good morning, Everyone!

No weightloss number to report this week. I've been at the hotel since Friday trying to get some computer work caught up. I got up Friday morning with what I thought was the stomach flu but had to already made hotel reservations for two days and had a dentist appointment at noon. So I drove into the city for the weekend as planned.

The dentist appointment went well. Dr. Shilvy did the impressions for my permanent plates. They should be done in about a week.

My original plan was to come in Friday then run errands after the appointment. With errands out of the way, I could hole up the entire weekend and work. By the time I left the dentist all I wanted was a quick stop at $Tree for the weekend groceries then check into the hotel where a comfy bed awaited.

I did get a little work done on Friday after a nap but dove full into work mode on Saturday morning. I woke up feeling much better and after a chat with Bob we deduced that I didn't have the flu. He had experienced the same thing about two days after his head cold. My body was purging all the drainage.

I think I'm on the road to recovery. I was able to enjoy crab legs on Saturday night then a small filet mignon and lobster tail with a side of steamed broccoli last night. Though I'm pretty sure that steamed broccoli would be more healthy if I didn't dip it into melted butter.

I go home today and am curious to see what the scales read tomorrow. I'll drop that number in probably sometime before 8 a.m. if you want to check back.

Bob is home for another two weeks at least. I love having him home. I will miss him when he goes back out on the boat. In the mean time, I'll work when I can and strive to beat him at Phase 10 or one of the many other games we have in the cabinet.

While I experienced snow/ sleet/ rain yesterday while I was running errands, 100 miles south he was able to build one of my flower beds. He also did 'something you've been wanting' on Friday but won't tell me what he did. So the scale number won't be my only surprise.

And another busy week looms.
Enjoy the Journey!

WEIGH IN

185/ 177 /135

I guess the best way to drop a quick pound or two is to feel rotten. The head cold Bob had two weeks ago, found me in full force by Tuesday of last week. The head cold was gone by Friday but a sinus infection settled in for two days. I'm much better today.

A crazy week of road trips in my future so not sure about the eating. I'm just going to take it day by day.

I've also not been wearing my tracker. Need to work on that this week.

While I've been lax in doing so, I know I won't be updating on Friday as I'll be traveling.
I'm tired and I'm ready to stay home and go back to my 10-12 hour work days.

Enjoy the Journey!

WEIGH IN

185/178  /135

Today's weight surprised me. After the BBQ chicken thighs I ate last night, coupled with Au Gratin potatoes, I was looking closer to a number of 183. Being down a pound was definitely the high point to my morning.

I woke up about 3:30 with a twinge of a sore throat. I'm not surprised as Bob spent three days with a serious head cold. He still has some lingering stuff but seems on a full road to recovery thanks to NyQuil. He's going to get me some this morning and I'll be working from bed.

Thankfully, we don't have any plans for Valentine's Day. I found a great deal on Alaskan King Crab Legs at our local grocer last week. They only get those and Lobster in for Valentine's Day, carrying them a couple of weeks before the day of Love. I usually order a case of the 4 oz lobster tails, running about $6 a piece. A huge price savings if you consider one of them added to an entree meal at some place like Outback Steakhouse or Ruby Tuesday  runs about $15! I still have most of my case from last year so substituted these huge crab legs calling my name.... and they were worth every bite.

Asian King Buffet in Springfield MO has snow crab leg on their buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. If you know anything about crab legs you know there is a huge difference in size between Snow and King. Bob doesn't eat the snow crab legs when we go because he says their too much work for all the more meat you get. The King crab legs were a different story. I fixed surf and turf for dinner one night last week. He ate his half of the purchase without any issue. Was worth the $10 a pound (as opposed to the $11 all you can eat snow at Asian King) to see him ENJOY them.

When it comes to the Chocolate part of the holiday, I am so there. I LOVE chocolate. But it has to be either milk or white. If I have to eat any other variety, I'd rather do without. Yes, I'm a chocolate snob in low places. That said, I am able to control how much I eat. Bob is amazed at how long chocolate will last me and the variety I have in various places around my office. Take the Dove Hearts for instance. I can stop at 2. Hershey Cups - 2, even if they're the minis (most of the time but never more than 4)

Self Control is one characteristic I possess. I'm not saying stopping at one or two, or a smaller portion when as my sister says 'tastes like seconds' is easy. But if you want to win at this game you have to learn self control.... you just have to.

How are you on Self Control? Do you find Control easier with some foods than others? For me, I have very little self control when it comes to Crab Legs - of any kind. But then, I don't get them very often either. So is losing control to a point okay for some things, as opposed to others?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Where ever you fall on the Self Control spectrum....

Enjoy the Journey!

WEIGH - IN

185/180/135

The culprit this week was PASTA. Bob wanted something different to eat yesterday while we were out for a day of shopping and relaxing so we went to Fazoli's. Pasta is one thing I can eat and we'd never been there before so thought we'd give it a shot.

OMG! The food is fantastic! And I didn't go overboard. I think it's just the fact that I ate carbs the day before weigh in.

We both thought the best way to experience their menu was to have the Sampler.

840 Calories

The meal came with six breadsticks. I ate one and I didn't eat the spaghetti. too hard to keep the strands from creeping up under my bottom denture.

After walking lunch off at a local strip mall then Menards, I determined I needed protein... and here I believe lies the damage.

Original Recipe®

Original Recipe KFC chicken on the buffet. I ate 2 legs and 2 thighs.

Fresh and Healthy Green Beans

Green beans and potato salad.

And topped the meal off with an unsweet tea then something I don't drink much of anymore...

Soft Drinks

A Pepsi for the road. Some days I just want carbonation.

Today we're eating out at a local Kings Garden buffet then I'll be cooking at home the rest of the week.

I'm also keeping better track of my steps so that I can give a weekly up-date on Fridays.

Whatver you do, Wherever you go...

Enjoy the Journey!
