Weigh In

185/177/135

Whooo Hoooo!

In spite of four days in the city, which included all-you-can-eat crab legs, I managed to drop two pounds! Except for Thursday night and part of Friday, I was by myself. I think that has a lot to do with it. I tend to grab quick things or just eat something in my room at the hotel. I don't go out for full meals unless Bob is with me.

Thursday night was all about my sissy. She recently got pushed into retirement (okay, she's 65 but that doesn't mean she was ready to retire). So I treated her to the All-You-Can-Eat snow crab legs at Hemmingway's Restaurant in Bass Pro. They only do those on Thursday nights. A bit pricey but this is a treat I give myself ever so often. Nice to sit and let them bring them to me rather than fight for a section or two at Asian King as I usually do.

The weather was down right CRUMMY! Wet, cold, icky rain and wind that sliced right to the bone. I took repeated hot showers at the hotel to chase off the chill and used the heat more than the usual AC in the room.  And I still managed to get a bit of scratchy throat. I feel better today and that's a good thing. This is to be our last sunny day for the week before more rain moves in. I'll rack up the steps hanging laundry on the line and doing house chores.

Off I go!

WEIGH-IN 4-17-17

185/179/135

In spite of logging almost 30,000 steps in the past 3 days I managed to gain 2 pounds! Not sure what's up with that. Not eating Easter candy, had a small piece of cheesecake for dessert yesterday after a simple Easter dinner. A single plate of a little of everything, no seconds. Hmmm

But I'm not worried (though Bob did say since I gained weight he should get the $200 I won when he came home LOL)

This week I'm focusing on getting those steps in every day and drinking my water.

I belong to a crafting thread called Stamp 2 Spend. We 'pay ourselves' for using product (rather than buying new stuff - use what we have), cards we make, scrapbook pages, actually 'mailing' a card, taking part in challenges,  as well as anything else we feel we need a little extra incentive for. Money is a pretty good incentive in my book. After pounding out so many steps working in the garden over the weekend, I've decided I'm going to pay myself $5 each week that I avg. 10,000 steps a day.

Also, I hope to hike more in the next few weeks before my granddaughters arrive. I've received a list of several National Parks that are on the chopping block for closing due to lack of funds. I'm going to check out the list and see if there are any within a nice weekend driving distance and check them out while I still can.

Here is the list:

Proposed park closings include:
  • Talimena
  • Great Plains State Park
  • Cherokee Landing State Park
  • Natural Falls State Park
  • Red Rock Canyon State Park
  • Great Salt Plains State Park
  • Lake Eufaula State Park
  • Lake Wister State Park
  • Alabaster Caverns State Park
  • McGee Creek State Park
  • Foss Lake State Park
  • Osage Hills State Park
  • Greenleaf State Park
  • Lake Texoma State Park
  • Grand Lake State Park
  • Grand Cherokee Golf Course
  • Boiling Springs State Park

Plan For the Week:

Drink Water
Walk More
Breathe

Whatever's on your Plan  - Enjoy the Journey!

WEIGH-IN 4-10-17

185/177/135

I spent the entire weekend in Northern Oklahoma on a research trip. The weather was great, though the wind could have blown A LOT less. I walked through museums, historical downtown districts of both Ponca City and Pawhuska racking up the steps. Then on our way home yesterday I walked up and down every other row of a small-town cemetery looking for the final resting place of a Korean War solider for another article I want to write. That one had me walking against the 25 mph wind on every 4th row.... oh yeah and after walking the entire cemetery, I found him third row down from where I'd parked the truck, in an older part of the cemetery. They just buried him last fall so I did not even think to look their first.

In spite of all the walking I am up a pound. BUT... and here's the big 'but'. I am comfortably in a Size 14, St. John's Bay Slender Fit pair of jeans! I bought a pair off a clearance rack last year for $4.99. I was determined to get into them within a year. They are so comfortable that I bought three more pair last weekend.... on sale. Not near the clearance price of the first pair but at a price I could live with. I think it's time to start pitching other jeans in my closet again. Time to pare down.

I didn't feel as if I overate. However, I did drink more soda than normal so I'm pretty sure that had something to do with it. I just wanted carbonation. My goal is to drink more water this week, continue to walk as much as possible and see if that extra pound can go by the wayside.

Most of my week will be spent sitting, though. All tht walking I did in OK? Part of it was for an article I have due on Saturday. I also have an entertainment article to do plus the marketing stuff. So, yeah, it's going to be a push to get any walking done. If the sun comes out, I'm thinking of coating myself in Repel and doing a timber walk for Morel Mushrooms. Up and down the hollars should have me racking up the steps.

What's on tap for your week? Whatever you do...

Enjoy the Journey!

RECAP - 4-7-17

I apologize for no posts for most of the month of March. While I had my scales in place for the posts to run, I did very little on the computer. We went to my brother-in-laws the first week in March and got hit with another round of flu. A severe sinus infection followed for me. I did what absolutely had to be done - and very little of that for the entire month.

As I type this, I feel much healthier and am getting back to a regular work routine

One major event this week. Bob went back to work the end of March and was out two weeks. That meant our weight loss challenge began again. Bob lost a pound.... but somehow I managed to lose THREE!

Since there hadn't been a loss for either of us the last time, that meant this pot was worth $200 rather than our traditional $100. So I'm now three pounds lighter and $200 richer. I don't know how long he's home for... he no longer has a set schedule with his job. So we shall see.

One of the things I tried while he was out last time was this new Campbell's Skillet Sauces. Super easy to make. For the most part, you just add the meat. I had some IQF chicken breasts that needed used up and this seemed like the perfect time to try the Chicken Marsala. YUM!

Simmering in the skillet:

I failed to take a picture of the dish plated because I wound up freezing these as individual portions and have only eaten one as a last minute, I need something quick meal.

If you're into pre-packaged foods, give these a try. I have a shrimp scampi in the cabinet that I'll probably make while Bob is home this time.

I'm traveling for business this week so not sure where the scales are going to hit on Monday. I'm hoping they don't go above their current 176. Wish me luck!

Enjoy the Journey!
