ON HIATUS

HI Everyone.

I wish this meant I'd be taking a trip and not have internet for awhile. I'm actually having a Staycation.

After serious contemplation and soul searching, I have come to the decision to put all of my blogs and social media attentioins on temporary hiatus. JUST for the month of MAY. I have some health issues I need to contend with as well as household/ family things.

I am hoping, with rest, the health issue will improve and I can come back in June stronger than ever.

In the mean time...

Enjoy the Journey

THE WEEK AHEAD - brief hiatus

Good morning!

Sorry I wasn't here yesterday (Monday) I was running out of internet gig with my provider.. had to wait for the cycle to roll over this morning.

This week, I am off completely. My husband leaves on the 12th for 28 days. There is a lot of things we need to get done before he heads out. The ups side is that I will be getting in LOTS of steps and exercise.

First things first:

I am at 184...   So no weight loss for me. 185/184/135

I did spend 4 days in Eureka Springs AR. over the weekend. Eating at Myrtie May's restaurant 3 meals a day. The up side to that is they have an amazing salad bar. Though I did have to have a piece of Possum Pie on Saturday night (Chocolate decadence) So considering I did not GAIN is enough for me.  I also walked quite a bit on an uphill terrain.

Now to the change for this week.  I had posts planned and have to put them on hold. Bob leaves on Monday night for 28 DAYS! This is only a bit longer than the 21 we are use to. But when he does come home, he'll only be home 14 before the process starts all over again.

For this first trip, there are several things I need his help with before he leaves. So my internet time will be almost non-existent as we get the greenhouse ready for plants, my water tank hosed up so I can begin draining that (making room for water for spring rains) and getting my straw bales in place so I can get the direct-seeding done.

Next week I will introduce you to a new StepCounter I have found and LOVE! The best one I've purchased to date.

I also have pictures in the file to rejuvenate the Recipe Wednesday as well as new recipes to share.

Thank you for your patience. I hope you'll get out and enjoy the weather - whatever you are experience...

And Enjoy the Journey!

THE WEEK AHEAD

185/184/135

UPDATE: I am up 2 pounds from last week and 3 from 3 days ago! Seriously?

I'm writing this on Sunday night in an attempt to get my blogs up and running on time this week. Bob comes home Wednesday and life gets crazy. I will come back in tomorrow morning and update my totals.  I'm hoping I've lost enough to secure another $100 from Bob and I's challenge.  I have been eating more vegetables, more salads. Trying to up the fruit. I bought a cantaloupe yesterday. Just have to get it peeled and ate. Some days the simplest tasks are the greatest challenge.

I meant to get back to routine last week. the puppy has been keeping me busy.  All attempts to find him a home are failing. I have him posted on Missouri Paws Lost & Found as well as our nearest no-kill shelter. For now, he is happy being here. Go figure!

Meet 'Honey'. Well kind of. I was sure he was a HE. But then he got in the pen with my male Great Pyrenees and Bear was all over him. So I thought, okay, I missed something and he is a SHE.. nope. Honey is definitely a HE. What that says about my Great Pyrenees makes me laugh.

So instead of all the things I wanted to do last week, I was spending more time on FB than I've been in the whole past 12 months!  I'm still convinced he needs to go. I do not want chained to the house by another inside dog. Honey is definitely an inside dog. Loves the recliner, is house trained/ leash trained/ kennel trained and is good with cats. He even uses the litter box if he can not get outside.  I think the deciding factor is going to be when Bob comes home on Wed. night. Bob is a softie LOL.

So my week ahead is to keep up with the vegies, add more fruits and hopefully get some garden time. If the weather would just warm up!

Whatever your week ahead...
Enjoy the Journey!

THE WEEK AHEAD

185/182/135

Sorry I'm slow in getting here today. I'm a bit distracted by this little girl:

She showed up in my yard yesterday. Does not appear to be a dump but more a little girl who's lost her way. She is about a year old and I believe coming into heat for the first time. This is a cropped picture of her saying hello to my Great Pyrenees in the kennel. Bear thinks she's something special. So I've had to find a creative way to keep her contained outside while I hope someone will see her on my husband's FB page.

I think she is a beagle/ spaniel mix. Well trained and clean. she sits on command, broke to a leash and loves to play fetch. Someone is missing this little girl.

Okay..

So, Bob has been gone a week and I'm eating things I like and my way. lots of vegies. Need to work on the fruits this week.

I also got my video for the rebounder. Was suppose to check it out today but with the distraction, I'm lucky to be getting work done. Puppies are just too much fun. LOL.

I did get on the scales this morning at 182.. up a pound from 2 days ago so not sure what happened. Probably not drinking enough. Will work on that for this week, as well

I have proteins, vegies, fruits. I would really like to drop 3 pounds by the time Bob comes home on the 30th. That would put me at 179. I think from there, with my new motivation, the yoyo might actually stop.

I do have some recipes I've been trying. Even have pictures. Just haven't been getting them posted. That is my goal for tomorrow.

What are you plans for this week?  Whatever they may be....

Enjoy the Journey!

THE WEEK AHEAD - Picking Up Where I Left Off

184/185/135

Sorry I missed the past couple of weeks. I just do not spend much time on here when Bob is home. Then the final weekend he was home, I caught his headcold. So when I would have been back in here catching up, I was stuffed under the covers with cold meds trying to shake the stuff before a big travel weekend and concert that had been planned since November!  All came out good and I'm back to work.

My sister and I try to do a 'sister weekend' at least once a year. Sometimes we get in 2. And we always eat at Red Lobster. It's just a given.

Last weekend we spent a couple of days in Paducah KY. I took her to see the Celtic Woman performance. Red Lobster before the performance, iHop (which I rarely eat) Saturday for breakfast. I ate part of a short stack plus sausage patties and smoked sausage links. Then Chinese on the home. Sikeston China Buffet is the only place around here I can get Peanut Butter Chicken.

All in all - I only gained a pound. I'm not thrilled I went up a pound, but I am not disappointed either. I could have gained a lot more.

In January I bought a Rebounder /w bar at Play It Again Sports. I have yet to really try it out. I ordered a work out video today. The reviews were from older people - my age and up and most of those having had recent knee surgery or have bad knees. I'm looking forward to trying the Rebounder program out.

I also broke down and bought an arm band for my cell phone. I have to keep my cell phone within range of my Traxx step tracker. So we shall see if this thing will work for me. I've had the arm band on and the feeling of having it on my upper arm is going to take some getting used to.

Bob is gone for another 1.5 weeks. I'm in protein/ vegi mode and trying to get back into the Metabolism Phase again.

Enjoy the Journey!

THE WEEK AHEAD- Learning Curve

184/184/135

Another Challenge period has come and gone with the hubby. While he did not lose/ gain any weight during his three weeks out, I managed to lose 3 pounds - winning the $100. The last I may see for awhile as there is a job shift in our future. A shift that I was sure would have him stress eating during his time on the boat. I was very proud of him for not gaining.

And that 3 pounds I lost?  Back on within 2 days of him being home. I have discovered the secret...

Stop eating out! (This said as we have to do that again today)

However, I do need to clarify. When we eat out, we usually bring half of our meal home. I can appease myself of the price if I know I'm getting two meals off my plate rather than one. The other thing is that restaurant portions are much larger than they need to be. You can order smaller portions... like a 7 oz sirloin as opposed to the 16 oz T-bone.. but even that 7 oz is almost double what a traditional protein portion should be.

When hubby is on the boat, I hardly leave the house. I eat on my schedule and the foods I like... some of which he does not.

So, while that 181 looked really good - the 184 I showed on the scales this morning, not so much. The yoyo is back. But now that I know what the issue is, I hope to change things

The other thing is I've gotten the living room back in order so I can use the treadmill again. I'm giving the treadmill a test run to see how my knees fair. If that becomes an issue I will concede and sell the machine. The other thing is we finally have room downstairs to set up the Total Gym, so that is an option.

What does your week look like?
Remember, what ever you choose....

Enjoy the Journey!

THE WEEK AHEAD - February 9

What a game yesterday! If you are a Carolina Panther's fan, I am truly sorry. The best team won. Could I say that if I were not a Bronco fan? Yes. I believe in good sportsmanship and as a Bronco fan I am always embarrassed at the way Aqib Talib behaves. He is constantly getting called for 'unnecessary roughness'. Usually, after a play is made. I swear this man is lookin' for a fight and someday, someone is going to answer the call. Does he not understand that our youth are watching these games and learning by example?

Okay, my rant about yesterday's game out of the way I have two more comments to make... Pictures are worth a thousand words...

Whatever Peyton Manning's decision, I am proud that he has been a part of the Denver Broncos. Today, in his honor, I ordered one of these...

And this is where the whole 'weight loss' part comes in. Because I could not try the shirt on, I ordered a men's XXL. Traditionally, I only wear a ladies 1X but no two manufacturers seem to size the same. Do I want to wear a XXL? NO! But then I do not want to wear a 1X in ladies either.

With diet issues discovered last year, I'm making some adjustments. Adjustments are not easy. And with finances changing within the house, those adjustments will be tested. So I hope, in the coming weeks to show comparisons in being able to eat healthy without spending a small fortune. It's a fact that American's spend way too  much money on food anyway - and a lot of what we purchase is tossed in the garbage.

In the words of Earl Pitts... Wake Up America!

I was going to get on the Wii this morning and start that process over. Somewhere between drinking my morning coffee and waiting for Bob to check in, I lost all momentum to do anything. I even took a nap. Not that I was tired, just putting my head on a pillow seemed like a good idea at the time. I know I will pay for that choice tomorrow. We always pay for the choices we make.

Time to make better choices.. and
Enjoy the Journey!
